Scottish Premiership clubs will be asked to vote on when the winter break will be introduced, following the introduction of new COVID rules from Boxing Day.
The three options proposed are as follows:
- Pause as planned after 3 January 2022
- Start the break after the Boxing Day fixtures
- Begin the hiatus before the Boxing Day games
The SPFL Board have indicated for clubs not to vote for the third option due to the few dates available to play matches.
Should option two be chosen, a return to play would take place in the week beginning Monday 17 January.
There would be midweek fixtures that week to make up for the postponed rounds of matches.
Clubs have been asked to respond with their preference by 5pm today (Wednesday 22 December 2021).
