St Mirren In Bid To Remove Director
- Updated: April 2, 2012
St Mirren have called an extraordinary general meeting in a bid to remove director Ken McGeoch from the board.
McGeoch’s role in a possible takeover attempt has angered those running the Paisley club.
The club had claimed that McGeoch had shown confidential information to Rangers’ company secretary.
The director has said he is willing to leave should someone buy his shareholding in the Scottish Premier League outfit.
And he insisted that he was doing nothing wrong by employing Gary Withey as his legal representative through the solicitor’s employer at the time, Collyer Bristow.
He also accused the St Mirren board of a “sustained campaign” against the takeover attempt made by him and colleague Paul Davies.
No formal bid was made but the club went public with their concerns about the advances that had been made.
The egm will be held on 3 May and Buddies chairman Stewart Gilmour and fellow directors opposed to McGeoch’s continued involvement at board level command at least 54% of the club’s shareholding.
