Reynolds To Return To Sheff. Wed

Aberdeen’s on-loan defender Mark Reynolds says he is desperate to force his way back into the first-team picture at parent club Sheffield Wednesday.

The 24-year-old has revealed he will not be returning to Pittodrie next season once his loan spell expires at the end of the current campaign.

Reynolds has impressed in his 13 games for Craig Brown’s side, who have lost just twice since he arrived in January.

But the former Motherwell man is focused on returning to South Yorkshire in the summer and impressing new Wednesday manager Dave Jones.

He said: “This move worked out great as I just wanted to play regular football in a decent team and knew I’d get that at Aberdeen.

“I’ll get the chance to go back down to Sheffield under a new manager to try to win his approval and play down there.

“No-one could see Gary Megson being sacked as he was doing well. But it looks like replacing him with Dave Jones was a masterstroke, as he’s had a good response from the players.

“I’ll go back there and do my pre-season. All I ask is for a fair crack to show I can do a job for them.

“It will be a fresh start, a chance to force my way into the team when Wednesday will hopefully be in the Championship.”

Reynolds has helped steer Aberdeen clear of the SPL relegation zone and into the Scottish Cup semi-finals where they face Hibernian on 14th April.

And he wants to give the Dons a perfect leaving present by winning the trophy.

“Everything I hoped would happen at Aberdeen has,” said the Scotland B cap.

“The icing on the cake would be to beat Hibs to get to the final and pick up a winner’s medal.”
