Brown Takes Blame For Crowds

Craig Brown

Aberdeen manager Craig Brown has accepted the blame for the low attendances at Pittodrie this season.

A crowd of just 5,281 turned up for the Dons’ home defeat to Hibernian, while fewer than two hundred fans travelled to last weekend’s game at Kilmarnock.

“I stand accountable,” said Brown, who was launching a new season-ticket scheme in a bid to win boost crowds.

“We must get bums on seats here and not by talking. We’ll do our very best to bring them back with positive results.

“I hope it is not going to be a hard sell for season tickets despite our disappointing season. The fair-minded fans see there are players who will brighten the team.

“Remember, we have been hit hard by injuries this season. Without our injury problems we would have been in the top half of the league.

“We never had a consistency of selection because of injuries.

“The fans should buy season tickets because they are Aberdeen supporters, and we will do our very best to provide a good brand of football to encourage them to come back with an all-round improvement.”

Brown has told fans to expect an array of new arrivals in the summer.

“We need new signings and have three or four in mind and while I’m not confident I’ll get the players I want, I am optimistic,” he said.

Brown is chasing Inverness striker Jonny Hayes, but he has opted to wait until the end of the season before deciding on his next move.
