Who are we?
The Reds Online website is brought to you by the Inverness Reds Supporters Club, which covers the Inverness, Moray and Easter Ross area.
The website started off in 1999 as Inverness Reds Online, before changing for the 2006/07 season to just plain old, Reds Online.
We're all Dons fans, in fact, many of us have season tickets at Pittodrie and we run buses (better get the plug in!) to all home games in Aberdeen from Inverness.
And with us all being Dons supporters, we are able to bring you one of the largest Red Army supporters site - the website is developed top-to-bottom by Dons fans for Dons fans.
How does it all come together?
Getting Reds Online onto the web is no mean feat. We use some major bits of kit to run, design and build the site all running on Mac Pro and MacBook Pro computers.
We use some industry standard software, Adobe Dreamweaver, Photoshop and GoLive for design, and MySQL for some backend stuff. For development and testing we use virtulisation running Windows Vista, XP and Linux so we can test the site on various systems and browsers.
We have two servers located in a data centre in London, deliverying enough bandwidth to manage our data intensive traffic including the AFC DONScast and The Predictor.
The AFC DONScast has now had just over 10 million downloads since it's launch in October 2005. The site itself since 1999, has had over 5 billion unique hits - much larger than we ever anticipated.
It's All Free!!!!!
As you'd expect, running Reds Online can cost quite a bit. However we continue to make everything free of charge to all our visitors - so listening to the AFC DONScast, taking part in The Predictor or just viewing our vast collection of pictures - we won't charge you a penny.
So Why Another Redesign?
We like to keep the site fresh. This is the fourth design since 1999, the new design for 2008/09 went into development in November 2007. We've reduced the width of the site, played about with the navigation from user feedback and introduced some new sections.
What does the Future Hold?
We have the next development after this already underway using a brand new design system we purchased earlier this year, through the 08/09 season we will be updating our messageboard and news systems and launch our new Fantasy SPL Football game.
