Falkirk defender Jackie McNamara is out for the rest of the season after breaking his leg while on loan at Partick Thistle.
The 36-year-old sustained the injury during Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat by Ayr United at Somerset Park.
“He will see a specialist to try to determine just how serious a leg break it is,” Partick manager Ian McCall told his club website.
“The best-case scenario is that he will be fit for pre-season training.”
McCall added: “A leg break is obviously a bad injury at the best of times and our hope is that it is nothing more than a break and that there isn’t – and we don’t think there is – any cruciate ligament damage into the bargain.”
In February the defender, capped 33 times for Scotland, agreed a one-month loan deal with the First Division club.
The former Dunfermline and Celtic full-back McNamara joined Falkirk in 2008 after a year with Aberdeen.
