Youngsters On Target In Testimonial

ABERDEEN FC beat an Inverurie Locos’ select 3-0 in a testimonial for Locos defender Roddy Mess.

First team players Jerel Ifil, Stuart Duff and keeper Stuart Nelson all played for the entire 90 minutes at Harlaw Park.

Locos fielded a team made up of Highland League stars.

The young Dons grabbed the lead in the seventh minute when Duff’s corner was met by Joseph Shaughnessy.

The defender rose high at the near post to flick a six-yard header into the goal.

Locos came close in the 15th minute when Ritchie Singer’s powerful drive was blocked at the near post by Nelson.

Aberdeen doubled their lead in the 20th minute when they exploited a mix-up between Locos goalkeeper Marc Coull and defender Scott Buchan.

The duo clashed at the edge of the penalty area and Lewis Davidson took full advantage to roll the ball into the empty net.

Aberdeen grabbed a third goal in the 51st minute when Ryan Jack’s cross whipped in from the left flank was deflected into his own net by Andy Reid.
