Zander Shows What Is Required

ZANDER Diamond set a good example. He is someone we have needed and he has been hurt by the results and the criticism.

He showed the rest of them what is required.

In some games our attitude and response to going behind has been questioned but in others it could not be questioned. If the frustration and anger which Zander is showing can rub off on the rest of them, which I think it did in the final 15 minutes, it can only help drag us out of this poor run of results.

I was not too worried that Zander would be sent off. I had a good view and it looked like it was slightly mistimed. The referee knew what happened and so did the fourth official. In our present condition we did not expect the goal but we hoped it was coming.

We could have nicked it at the end but that would have been hard on Hamilton. The result was probably about right.

We changed the system at half-time. Before then we went with three up to to try to force them into a change but we didn’t get the ball to our forwards enough. It meant we were scrambling defensively at times so we changed it to a 4-4-2 before half-time.

It made a difference. It made the defence and midfield’s jobs a bit easier and allowed us to play more football.

We have to take it on the chin. We are doing everything we can to turn it around.

There was no question about the attitude of the players, but we have to play better and we know we can.

That is now three defeats and a draw but, hopefully, this is the turning point for us to go on and win a game.

Fraser Fyvie caught the top of his foot in training and was not quite right for this match. He was limping so it would have been silly to play him.
