John's Advice To Youngsters

FORMER Celtic defender John Kennedy today told Aberdeen FC’s young stars to cherish every moment as they never know when their careers could be over.

Kennedy was forced to retire from football last year, aged only 26, after failing to recover from a horrific knee injury.

The beginning of the end for the centre-half came in 2004 when he was playing for Scotland against Romania.

Kennedy suffered a brutal challenge from Ionel Ganea, forcing him to undergo several operations.

The Bellshill-born player eventually returned to play for Celtic and then Norwich on loan, but further injuries to the same knee forced him to give up the game.

Kennedy warned the young Aberdeen FC players at Pittodrie, such as Fraser Fyvie, Michael Paton and Peter Pawlett, not to take anything for granted, despite enjoying early success in their careers.
