We'll Finish Cup Job

IT WOULD have been such an injustice if we had gone out of the cup.

I was standing watching in disbelief that we were losing the game.

We dominated the first half and the goal was against the run of play. I was quite satisfied with the pressure we were putting on them.

Towards the end I could not believe we were heading out and the draw was the very least we deserved.

When chances were going past the post I started to think it was going to be another cup disappointment, so I was satisfied for it to finish 1-1.

I thought the five extra minutes was about right. There were a few injuries and a bit of time-wasting, so it was correct.

It was just a relief to get the goal. If we had lost I would not have been able to explain it. As it is, we are not out of the cup and we have another chance.

Raith Rovers cannot be too dissatisfied. They put in a major effort and put so much into the game.

They scored a terrific goal to go one up. It was a great strike and it gave them something to hold on to.

They made it hard for us but I do not think their supporters should be too disappointed.

If you had offered me it beforehand I would have taken a draw. We came here on the back of two disappointing results and disappointing performances but I am not disappointed with this result or performance. I am convinced we will finish the job at Pittodrie.

Fraser Fyvie was ill earlier in the week and did not play well last Tuesday, so we decided to give him a rest.

Michael Paton looked the better finisher in training last week so we decided to take Darren Mackie off and put Paton through the middle.

We introduced Pawlett and Aluko and it was easy to see what they bring to us. They give us the variety we will need in the coming weeks.
