Hegarty Rages Over Comments

DUNDEE United legend Paul Hegarty has hit out at Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee for claiming the former Tannadice player once threatened to break his legs.

Hegarty was stunned to see his name brought into the row over United’s players allegedly threatening Dons player Davide Grassi during Saturday’s SPL match.

In his post-match comments, McGhee claimed that during his playing days he used to be regularly threatened by Hegarty, who told him he planned to snap his legs.

But Hegarty, recently sacked as one of George Burley’s coaches within the Scotland set-up, denies this.

He said: “I am raging about this. Mark’s comments are disgraceful. I don’t know where he gets all this from because I’ve never said anything like that in my life.

“I’ll be speaking to him in the next day or two. Maybe he’s losing his marbles.

“It’s sad that a manager of his standing has stooped to this level.”
