Broadfoot Continues Gers Comeback

Rangers defender Kirk Broadfoot continued his return to fitness by playing 45 minutes of a game behind closed doors against Ayr United.

Broadfoot partnered Madjid Bougherra in central defence in his first match since the Co-operative Insurance Cup final against Celtic in March.

The Scotland defender, 25, has been recovering from surgery to remove part of the bone in his left foot.

Rangers boss Walter Smith has also deployed Broadfoot at right back.

Kevin Thomson, Nacho Novo and Kyle Lafferty also started the game at Murray Park on Tuesday afternoon, which Rangers won 4-0 thanks to goals from Novo, Jamie Ness, Lafferty and Andrew Little.
